Our client is a mechanical workshop based in Antwerp. They offer a unique process for applying wear-resistant coatings to metal parts. Their regular customers are in the shipping, mechanical engineering, industrial and overhaul and repair sectors. With the technique employed, the service life of parts subject to wear and tear is significantly extended. In addition, our client has extensive machinery to carry out turning, milling, grinding and polishing work and they are also a partner for the rapid machining of all kinds of machine parts and spare parts. Central to this business is the skilled and experienced team whose craftsmanship and expertise ensures the continuous quality of products and services.
Due to growth and with a view to further optimization, reinforcement with a process engineer is sought within the team.
You will be given a very diverse range of tasks where you will come into contact with a variety of techniques.
- first of all, you will get to know the machinery and the technologies used extensively
- the aim is for you to gain a good understanding of the coating process by carrying out coating work on the shop floor in an initial phase
- you are jointly responsible for the maintenance of the coating installations (directing third parties)
- you perform lab analyses of samples in the context of qualification procedures (coating of samples, metallographic polishing of samples, porosity measurements, hardness measurements, adhesion tests)
- you perform process tests
- you also work on projects to improve PLC automation, such as connecting new sensors (flow meters, camera, infrared sensor, etc.) to PLCs, updating and improving HMI, further developing emergency stop procedures, setting up automatic batch reporting
- furthermore, you are responsible for mechanical improvements in the coating area
- after a while you will manage some operators so that you will have extra time for more substantial projects such as the efficient coating of larger series, the implementation of new coating techniques, the introduction of a rotary table to coat larger diameters, the development of a coating gun for internal coating
Education, knowledge and experience
- you have a bachelor or engineering degree (electromechanics, automation)
- experience is welcome but not essential
